Biography

Abi Ketner Is a registered nurse with a passion for novels, the beaches of St. John, and her Philadelphia Phillies. A talented singer, Abi loves to go running and spend lots of time with her family. She currently resides in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with her husband, triplet daughters and two very spoiled dogs.

Melissa Kalicicki received her bachelor’s degree from Millersville University in 2003. She married, had two boys and currently lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Aside from reading and writing, her interests include running and mixed martial arts. She also remains an avid Cleveland sports fan.

Abi and Missy met in the summer of 1999 at college orientation and have been best friends ever since. After college, they added jobs, husbands and kids to their lives, but they still found time for their friendship. Instead of hanging out on weekends, they went to dinner once a month and reviewed books. What started out as an enjoyable hobby has now become an incredible adventure.

Prologue

Ella

There’s something ominous about the bridge, yet I’m drawn to it by an inner compulsion. It’s not as painful as it used to be, but there are still raw memories linked to it that will haunt me forever.

The sky is cloudy and the gentle breeze kisses my skin. I zip my jacket up as I gaze out at the dark water, lost in my thoughts of that terrible night when I considered jumping.

“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” Micha asks, the same question he’s been asking for the last few days. His knuckles turn white as he clutches onto the railing of the bridge and peers down at the lake. “You’ve been through a lot this weekend.”

I wince at the recollection of my dad’s angry voice when he told me he wished I wasn’t his daughter, when Dean and I had confronted him about his alcoholism. Cruel words were shouted that ripped at my heart. I keep trying to convince myself that it’s the addiction talking, not him, but I don’t entirely believe it. My body and mind are exhausted from the drama, but I’ll push through, just like I did the last time. There is no running away anymore, only dealing with it and eventually moving on.

Micha doesn’t know the entire story of what happened and I want to save him from the burden. He worries about me all the time and the guilt consumes me. He should be happy, love life, do what he wants to do. He deserves it.

I frown, hating that when we walk off the bridge, he’ll leave me to return to the road with his band. “I’m a little sad you have to go.”

He releases the metal railing and his aqua eyes sparkle as he hugs me. I bury my face into his chest and breathe him in, never wanting to let him go.

“I love you, Ella May.” He kisses the top of my head.

I shut my eyes and suck back the tears. “I love you, too.”

He presses his full lips to mine and kisses me passionately, his lip ring digging into my mouth. My skin warms as his hands explore my back and his fingers graze across my ass, begging my body closer to his. I tangle my fingers through his soft hair before securing my arms around the back of his neck. His tongue traces the inside of my mouth and he intensifies the kiss until we have to pull away to catch our breath.

My chest heaves as I gaze out at the lake one last time and the sun reflects in the water. “It’s time to go, isn’t it?”

He squeezes my hand. “It’ll be okay. We have the whole twelve-hour drive ahead of us, and I’ll be gone for only a couple weeks before I’m annoying the hell out of you again.”

I force a smile. “I know and I’m looking forward to being annoyed.”

We walk hand in hand back to Lila’s black Mercedes. I let him drive and he flies down the dirt road, leaving a cloud of dust behind us that quickly vanishes.

My heart knocks inside my chest. I feel alive, high on adrenaline, like I could conquer the world. “It’s okay. Trust me when I say I’m used to bar fights.” I touch the tip of my finger to his bottom. “You cut your lip open.” I wipe the blood away and I start to pull my hand back, but he covers it with his and presses it against his lips. He kisses my palm, his eyes penetrating me, making me feel exposed as he sucks on my skin and rolls his tongue along it. Our breaths quicken, in sync and matching each other’s desire.

“Please fucking tell me that I kiss you right now?” he whispers with a silent plea in his eyes. “God, please… I need to…”

I nod my head once and his lips crash into mine, but his touch is gentle. My skin ignites as I wrap my hands around his waist and pull myself against him, aligning out bodies. My lips part and his tongue slides in deeply, so that he can caress the roof of my mouth with his tongue ring and I let out a faltering moan.

He slightly withdraws away, looking me in the eyes, and then he growls, enfolds his fingers around my thighs, and picks me up. I enclose my legs around his waist as he continues to taste every inch of my mouth and backs us against the wall, beneath the shadows and florescent lights. There’s no space remaining between our bodies and I can feel his hardness pressed up against me. I’m spinning, sweating, panting as he kisses me and brings a feeling of ecstasy from my head to my toes. His hands are tangled in my hair, then trail down my neck, finally settling on my hips. Then he slips a hand up the back of my shirt and the contact sends a jolt of electricity down my spine as he holds onto me like I’m his lifeline, as if letting me go will kill him.

“I want to kiss you forever.” He groans against my lips and steals my breath away.

It’s like we’ve unleashed a hungry animal in each of us. I crave more of him. Now. I’ve been waiting too long to be able to get this close to someone and I need to closer right this second.

“Asher,” I whisper against his lip. “Touch me, please.”

He doesn’t argue, his hand moving from my back to my stomach and I tighten my legs to keep from falling down. He presses me against the brick wall while his lips move against mine and his hand slides up to my bra. Slipping his hand underneath it, he traces his thumb across my nipple, which instantly hardens

I mutter his name, my eyes shutting as my head falls back.

Ember (Death Collectors, #1) is getting a makeover, inside and out. I decided to change a few scenes and steams things up a little, but it's not a new story. 2. Darkness Fades, the last book in the series, comes out on April 23rd too.

All right! I've been getting lots and lots of request for one of these, so here you go. A teaser from The Evanescence. Keep in mind that it's supposed to be in italics and it's unedited so please excuse the mistakes :)

Prologue

Gemma

“You really think it’s that easy?” I ask with my head tipped back and the sunlight shimmering across my skin. I’m standing in a field filled with blooming violet flowers, the air is stifling, but in a beautiful way, because it’s real which makes it perfect.
Alex struts up to the side of me with his arms crossed over his chest and an amused quirk playing at his lips. His muscles are flexed beneath his black t-shirt, his brown hair is tousled, and his green eyes glint with mischievousness. “Of course. Why wouldn’t it be?”
I start to spin in a circle, keeping my arms to the side of me. My long, flowing brown hair blows in the gentle breeze and the back of my purple tank top sticks to my damp skin. “Because…” I spin and spin and spin, so free and everything is so wonderful.
Alex chuckles under his breath, watching me with fascination. “Because why?”
I stop spinning, facing him, and blink through the dizziness as my arms fall to my side. “Don’t you ever get the feeling that things are supposed to be harder than they are—that life is supposed to be harder?”
He cocks his head to the side with a musing expression. “You don’t think life’s hard?” He stretches his long legs, walking through the grass toward me, reducing the distance between us. “Because the other day you seemed pretty determined that everything was difficult.”
I put my hands on my hips and narrow my eyes at him, causing him to laugh. “I was having a bad day, okay? I totally failed my math test and then some weird faerie dude said I had funny looking eyes, but a nice butt. Plus my mom said that she doesn’t want me hanging out with you anymore… that you’re a bad influence on me.”
He stops in front of me, grinning from ear to ear as he eyes me over, reaching for my hips. “She was just upset because she caught us making out on the bed.”
I scrunch my nose and swat the side of his arm. “It’s not funny. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have ‘the talk.’” I make air quotes as he spreads his fingers around my waist. “When you’re eighteen years-old. Like I really didn’t know how everything works.”
“Probably pretty embarrassing.” His grin broadens. “Glad it was you and not me.”
I pinch his chest and he winces, laughing. “Stop smiling. It’s not funny.”
“Oh, it’s completely funny,” he says, his hands traveling to my back. “Besides, I think you should put into good use what your mother taught you.”
I try to stay angry, but it’s tough. “No way, if I have to suffer, than you do too. No more for you. Ever.”
His palms slide up my back, searing hot through the thin fabric of my shirt. He pauses when he reaches my neck and begins combing his fingers through my hair. “That’s not what you said last night. In fact, you were very generous to me.”
Biting my lips, I look out into the sunlight, trying to hide my blush. Alex says I’m the most emotional person he’s ever known and that he can tell what I’m thinking simply by my expression, and nine times out of ten he’s right.
He places his hand on my cheek and turns my head back to him. “Hey, no hiding from me. I like looking at you when you’re embarrassed, especially when you bite at your lip like that.”
I bite my lip harder, just to tease him, and then raise my eyebrows.
He smiles and then leans forward, placing a kiss on the corner of my mouth. My eyes shut uncontrollably and I let out a soft sigh, unable to hide what I’m feeling, which has pretty much how I’ve been since the day I was born.
“You’re beautiful,” he whispers with his lips hovering over mine. “And last night was amazing.”
It really was amazing. And perfect. And everything I’ve ever wanted. But deep down, it all feels too easy. It feels like my life should have been harder. I’m sinking deep into my thoughts, but then he kisses me, sliding his my lips open with his tongue, and I willingly open my mouth, because it’s easy. It always is with him.

Okay! I think, or at least hope, that I got all of my release dates updated on my blog. There's also three series that are ending and I've made a note of which ones they are. I've also made a note of which books you can preorder and then the rest are Indie so I'll post links on the day that they become available. So you can now click on the tab of the series you're looking for on this page and find out more info. I also added a newbie book/series and I have no idea yet when it'll be finished, but it's there and being sporadically worked on when I have time :) Hope this gives everyone some answers about my release dates.

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden Teaser!

We decided on my facebook page that I needed to post a teaser--that it was EXTREMELY important that I did. I thought I'd share on here too.

A teaser from The Redemption of Callie and Kayden :) This is actually one of my favorite parts for various different reasons. And please excuse any errors.

Just as quickly as I found him again he’s walking out of my life. I watch him weave around the tables and then he’s out the door, leaving me. I need do to something. I need to make him understand that I understand him. I need to make him see that he deserves to be happy and that he doesn’t ruin me. I get up and hurry around the tables, not caring that everyone is looking at me like I’m crazy. I slam my hand against the glass door and throw myself out into the cold, completely vulnerable without my jacket on.
“I sometimes make myself throw up,” I stammer as I run up to the bike with my feet slipping against the snow.
He freezes with one foot on the ground on one foot off and turns his head. His eyes scroll across my body and I feel naked and exposed. “You what?”
I press my fingertips to my eyes and shake my head because I can’t look at him when I say it again. “I sometimes make myself throw up.” I give him a moment and then I drop my hands to my side. “And not because I think I’m fat. It’s because…” I take a step toward him and angle my head back, looking up into his emerald eyes. I can see the reflection of myself in them and I look as terrified as I feel. “It’s because I’m trying to get rid of all the vile foul feeling inside me. The ones I can’t deal with.”
He’s looking at me and I mean really looking at me and there’s this connection, this understanding that we are two people who have been fractured, not by ourselves, but by someone else and we’re doing everything we can not to shatter to pieces.
I wait for him to react and when he doesn’t move I decide to do it for him. I walk up to him, getting close enough that I can feel the heat emitting off his body. Then I throw my arms around his neck, and hug him, praying to God he’ll hug me back, because even though it’s a simple gesture in theory, sometimes hugging is complex.
His arms stay slack to his side as his chest rises and falls. I’m about to give up, back away, and allow myself to cry, when his arms wrap around my waist. He grips me tightly and it gives me hope that maybe there might be some hope left.
He holds me forever with his face nuzzled into my hair. Somewhere along the line it starts to snow, but we don’t move. We are frozen in a moment neither of us wants to leave.
“For how long?” he finally asks, his breath warm against my cheek.
I shut my eyes and bask in the feel of him. “Since it happened.”
His arms tighten around me and he presses my body against his. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault.” I run my fingertips up and down his back, working up the courage to ask. “Kayden?”
“Since I was twelve.” He reads my mind and trusts me enough to answer.
I constrict my arms around him, sealing us together in every way possible. Maybe if I try hard enough, we’ll fall into each other and become one single person and we can share our pain instead of caring it ourselves.

“Then tell me something real.” I practically beg, but I need things to feel real at the moment, because it feels like I’m drowning in a sea of illusions.

He places his hand beside my leg, not touching me, but close. “The first time I saw you, I was scared.”

That isn’t what I expected. “You seemed pissed.”

“I was pissed, too.” He scoots forward and our knees brush. “But pissed at myself for feeling the way that I do.” His jaw tightens and then his hand moves to my hip. “I was taught not to feel that way.”

My muscles constrict beneath his touch and every ounce of Laylen’s comfort singes into ash. “To feel what way?”

His lip part, then he shuts his eyes tightly. “Out of control. Lost. Confused. Terrified. I’m not supposed to let those things get to me.” His eyes open and I suck in a breath at the rawness they emit. “You want to know something real about me, Gemma? I’m empty. Dead. Completely numb inside, except for when I’m around you. I’m hot and cold because I try to fight it, because that’s what I’m supposed to do—that’s the right thing to do.”

What’s right and what he wants. “But you don’t want to? You want to feel them?”

He nods. “I want to do a lot of things.” His fingers burrow into my hip and I shudder as heat caresses my skin. He bends his elbow and with one hand pulls me across the seat towards him. When I’m near enough, his free hand grabs my waist; he lifts me up and sits me down on his lap so I’m straddling him. My chest heaves erratically as he traces his finger up my cheekbone and tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear.

His lips dip towards my neck. “Whenever I’m around you, I forget everything else.” He doesn’t explain if that’s good or bad and I don’t get a chance to ask him because his teeth nip at my neck and I forget how to speak.

I bring my hands up to the back of his neck, then slide them up and tangle them into his air. His mouth opens and his tongue rolls along my neck. I draw his face closer and lift my hips up and his mouth nears my collarbone. I’m fully ready to go back to the feeling I experienced on the bed in the cabin. I want him to explore me further. I want him to touch me all over, but he gives me a quick kiss and then pulls back. I’m about to object when he picks me up by the waist and I nearly smack my head on the ceiling of the car as he lays me down on the seat. Then he covers my body with his and kisses me hard, stealing my breath away.

When our bodies can’t take it any longer, he pulls away and looks down at me as we both pant. I can feel it, just like he said, the numbness being filled and I need more. I move my hands up his muscular arms and the longer I touch him, the more I let go because I let my emotions own me. When I reach his back, I try to force him to me, but he shakes his head in protest.

I frown. “What’s wrong?”

His eyes shadow over with a look that sends my body into a fit. He kneels up and grabs my arms roughly. I let him because I want to and that’s all that matters. In one quick motion, he pins my wrists together and restrains them above my head. Then he lowers himself back on me as his hand glides down my body...

Shattered Promises Teaser!

Hi everyone, I'm posting another Shattered Promises (Shattered Promises, #1) teaser (note: please excuse the errors. This isn't the edited version of the book)! And I also wanted to answer some frequent questions I've been about the book/series.
1. Shatter Promise is base of The Fallen Star (Book 1), a young adult series of mine. It's told at a New Adult level, it's a fantasy, and it is not just The Fallen Star with some uncut scenes. It's me exploring the idea of how the story would have went is the characters were older. The setting is somewhat similar and the plot. There's also some scenes that are similar, but there's some that are different.

2. You don't have to read any book before this. It's its own book and will belong to its own series.

3. There will be a retelling of the other books that are in the Fallen Star Series, I just have titled any of them yet.

4. This book has a huge 17+ mature warning content on it for sexual situations and language. It's not in anyway young adult.

5. Release date. Yes, I get this one a lot. I'm hoping upon hoping to be able to release it late this month. I'm just waiting on a few things first before I can set a definite date.

Luckily, the song switched to a slower, more sensual beat and everyone mellowed to grind against each other. I wasn’t sure what to do or why we were out here, but Alex took the lead. He put his hand on my hip and lured me to him with his eyes on me. He slid his hand slowly up my side, along my ribs, and to my shoulder, where he started to drift downward. His skin was searing hot against my arm and when he arrived at my wrist I practically died from the heat. He gripped my wrist forcefully, pressing his fingers into my skin, then he lifted my arm up and positioned my hand on top of his shoulder.

My body was very much alive and awake and in tune and when he did the same thing with my other arm I couldn’t hold back the moan of pleasure clawing up my throat. I let it out because there was nothing else to do.

The muscles in his jaw twitched as he placed his hands on my hips and enticed me toward him until our bodies were connected. He began swaying us to the music and rubbing against me with each movement. His green eyes were black below the inadequate lighting and his lips blood red. He inched his mouth toward my ear and breathed against my skin. “The bartender was on to you. I had to find a way to get you out of there.”

“By kissing me?” I asked, breathless.

His fingertips kneaded my hips. “That was to get you to stop choking.” He pulled back a little. “And the dancing is to get you into the crowd and away from wandering eyes. You distract everyone out here. You stand out way too much.”

I glanced at the blond girl with fangs and she was nipping at pointy-eared guys’ neck. He let out a groan similar to the one I’d let out just seconds ago. “I think I blend in pretty well,” I said.

His brow teased upward. “Oh yeah?”

“Yeah.” I slipped my hands farther up his shoulders and down to his back. When my palms were covering his shoulder blades, I dug my nails in and pulled him closer. “In fact, I think I have this whole angel thing down pretty well.”

He shook his head, grinning haughtily. “You’d be screwed if I wasn’t here to guide you through.”

“If you weren’t here than I wouldn’t be here.” My head was getting hazy and uncensored words were slipping out of my mouth.

He frowned. “I know that.”

He grew quiet and took a step back to add room between us. His attention left me as his eyes drifted to the stairway. It bugged me, because I wanted it on me. I wanted him to look at me. Touch me. Be only about me. I was becoming very needy and the feeling consumed me.

I hooked a finger underneath his chin and forced him to look at me. “I thought you brought me out here to dance?”

His eyebrows dipped together. “No, I brought you out here to keep you hidden and to keep an eye on the staircase.”

I shook my head and scratched him with my nail as I drew my hand away. “I want to dance, just like everyone else.”

His eyes went squinty as he analyzed my facial features and eyes. “Are you drunk?”

I shook my head with sureness even though I had no idea what being drunk felt like. “No, I’m perfectly sober.”

“Good, because you only had one shot.”

“Obviously.”

He shook his head and I clamped down on his shoulders and forced him to diminish the space he’d put between us. He was shocked, his eyes wide and his lips parted. Without another thought, I bent my head forward and collided our lips. The music was loud and drenched my body in lyrics as I basked in the taste of him. My head spun with vapor as I sucked his lip into my mouth. He groaned, loudly, and I bit down on his lip and let my hands trail down his back with my nails aiming downward so I was gently scratching at his skin.

“Gemma,” he murmured as his hand moved from my hip to my back. Then crept downward and he cupped my ass and crushed my body against his. I was drowning in blackness and he was my air. I sealed our lips together and his tongue willingly slipping into mine. I felt his breath enter my mouth and the compulsion for more took me over. My hands swiftly glided up his back and I fastened my arms around his neck. I tasted him thoroughly as I stood on my tiptoes and climbed on top of him. His breath hitched in his throat as I hooked my legs around his midsection. I was in a dress and my legs were apart, allowing his hardness to press against me. It was stimulating and made my body crave for more, so I clung onto him and writhed my hips up and down, rubbing up against him.

He groaned a deep throaty groan and reciprocated by pushing his body closer to mine and I felt his hand slip between my legs. His eyes were shut but mine refused to close. I could see everything. Feel everything. I was high. I was centered. I was in control.

People were dancing quickly, like we were in a movie and it was stuck I fast forward—none of it could be real. Alex was kissing me, feeling me, touching me, making me feel like I’d been starved. My arms began to tremble and when I glanced down them, my skin was covered in black veins like tar had replaced my blood. The veins where crawling across my skin and I started to scream. I was falling. Floating. What was I doing?

Alex jerked back and his lips were moving. But I couldn’t hear what he was saying. I unhitched my jaw to speak, but my voice was noiseless. My eyes rolled into the back of my head and my limbs went limp. I began to sink to the ground and I wasn’t sure how far down it was before I’d hit.

Or if I’d ever hit anything.

Maybe I’d just fall, and fall, and fall.

Shattered Promises Info

I’ve been getting asked what Shattered Promises is exactly. If it’s the same story as The Fallen Star with some steamy scenes added in? If it follows the same storyline? What is it!!!???
Here’s the answer. I decided a little bit ago to do a New Adult version of The Fallen Star (Fallen Star Series, Book 1). It has the same characters, only I had to tweak their personalities a little and make them more grown up. It’s a similar storyline, however, it’s not the same story with scenes added in it. I’ve rewrote it to fit my current writing style and added more grown up situations, but it’s still the same concept and has a similar flow.
Also, you don’t need to read The Fallen Star to understand what’s going on. It’s its own book :)
It’s all for fun, for either someone wanting to see what would have happened if Gemma and Alex where older when they met, or for anyone wanting to read a New Adult Fantasy.
